INTRODUCTION.
Our lord has commanded his apostles to go into all the countries of the world, and to tell the people the good new. Those who believe the good news must be baptize.
Baptism speaks of Our lord’s death, burial, and resurrection. John was one of the first to use water baptism for religious reason. However, it is said that baptism was used in Israel long before John. For marital purposes. IT is said that a father would baptism the groom, which is a sign that he was now a part, or a member of the family. The groom was not just a son in-law. He was now a son. One form of baptism was to make the person kneel down, and seven bucket of water was poured out on his head. Another form was immersion. Then sprinkling.
RE-BAPTISM.
Does a person need to be baptize over, if they have backslide and return to the lord? This question is a yes and no. Just suppose the person backslide for years upon years. I would suggest that the person baptize over. My reason for saying this. Baptism is really a testimony to the people who know you, and people you are going to live among. If it was, the same people who witness your first baptism. You do not need to be baptize over.
JESUS WAS BAPTIZED, WHY?
Before a high priest leave office, he must initiate or usher in the new High priest. John Baptist was the genuine priest that year, because his father Zachariah was the High priest before him. However, when the Romans took Jerusalem they abandoned that divinely priestly order and set up their own puppet priestly order. John Baptist was the one that was now decreasing and Christ must take over from him. Therefore, Jesus baptism was not to remove sins, but to pass on the priestly order to him.
St Matthew 3:13-AV Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. Matthew 3:14-AV But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? Matthew 3:15-AV And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Matthew 3:16-AV And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Matthew 3:17-AV And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
WHAT DOES WATER
BAPTISM
SIGNIFIED?
Baptism speaks of Christ death, burial, and resurrection. By baptizing, the person has publicly identified his or her self with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The person is symbolically saying" I believe, and accept it"
.
Romans 6:3-AV Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:4-AV Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:5-AV For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:
.
Colossians 2:12-AV Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
.
Galatians 3:27-AV For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
WHEN SHOULD A PERSON BE BAPTIZE?
The Bible does not leave us in any darkness as to the meaning of this doctrine. Any time a person is truly converted he or she will want to be baptized as soon as possible
.
Acts 8:12. Acts 8:36-AV And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Acts 8:37-AV And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts 8:38-AV And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
WHAT OR WHOSE
NAME SHOULD
A PERSON BAPTIZE IN.
Whose name should you be baptized in? Does it really matter?
.
1 John 5:7-AV For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:8-AV And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
THE JEWS BELIEVE GOD
HAD A SON.
However, they do not believe that the JESUS who Paul preach is the son of God.
.
Proverbs 30:1-AV The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, [even] the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal, Proverbs 30:2-AV Surely I [am] more brutish than [any] man, and have not the understanding of a man. Proverbs 30:3-AV I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy. Proverbs 30:4-AV Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell?
.
Daniel 3:25-AV He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
.
1 Corinthians 1:17-AV For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
BAPTISM IN JESUS NAME.
Rev 19:12 (NKJV) His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself .
You think you know Jesus name, but his name no man knew but he himself.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BAPTIZE IN A NAME?
[in the name of Jesus Christ] Being baptized by the authority of Jesus Christ to a Jew meant giving up Judaism and all fellowship of his nation with all his political rights and privileges. Matthew 28:19.
.
Acts 2:38-AV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:39-AV For the promise is unto you, and to your children,
and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call. Acts 2:40-AV And with many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
BAPTISM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON
AND HOLY SPIRIT?
Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
.
[in the name of] This means "by the authority of." Here it means by the authority of all three persons and not by the authority of Jesus only. He is the one authorizing us to recognize the others as well as Himself. This will help us to understand Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:48; Acts 19:5. It is by the authority of Jesus Christ that we baptize at all, and it is by His authority that we baptize in the name of (by the authority of) all three persons.
.
"Open the gate in the name of the king" Cries the rider. Or by the “Authority, by the command of the king" I have the power to compel you to open the gate because the king empowered me with that right. The police has the right to arrest a criminal because the state or country give him that power.
.
Matthew 8:9 (KJV) For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
.
[Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost] Some argue that these are not names, but the dictionary says that the word name is "any word" or "title" by which any person or thing is known. This is not just any Father, any Son, or any Holy Ghost, but it is the Father of Jesus Christ, and the Son of the Father, and the Holy Ghost, the third person of the Divine Trinity. Any Bible reader would know who these three persons are if mentioned by these names in any scripture.
.
[in my name] This repeats the doctrine of the Christian's power of attorney, and teaches agency in divine affairs. Legally, any person capable of free and intelligent action may act as an agent. A lunatic, imbecile, an infant, or anyone incapable of free and intelligent action cannot act as an agent. The power of attorney means the legal and written authority to transact business for another. One may be a general agent to represent another in all of his business, or a special agent who is authorized to do some specific work, or transact some special business. The agent can act with all authority within the bounds of the legal authorization as much as the one who gave him this authority.
.
Matthew 28:16-AV Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. Matthew 28:17-AV And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. Matthew 28:18-AV And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:19-AV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:20-AV Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
In the days when the scriptures were written, Father was a name.
Isaiah 9:6-AV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
.
Jesus, and Peter are not in conflict, they are fighting the same enemy from opposite sides. Jesus is refereed to as a title in ST John 19:19.
DOES IT MATTER WHICH BAPTISM A CHURCH CHOOSES TO USE?
It does not matter which baptism your church wants to use. As long as you believe that Jesus is the son of God, and he died for your sins. It does not really mater if the name "Jesus" being pronounce over you at baptism. Or "Father, son, or the Holy Ghost" Pronouncing the name over you is not what the scriptures are talking about. We pronounce the name because we want you to know under who’s authority you are being BAPTIZE. Why preachers make such a big fuss over nothing, only God know. If the scriptures teaches one thing two different ways, it suppose to have reason for that.
It is God who sent Jesus to die. It is the Holy Ghost who empowered him died.
.
John 20:17 (KJV)Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
IF THE SCRIPTURE TEACHES TWO DIFFERENT KIND OF BAPTISM, WHY?
In the Apostles' time, they stressed baptism in Jesus’ name because the Jews, and Gentiles of the time did not believe that the Jesus the apostles were presenting to them, was indeed the son of God. They believed that God had a son, but they did not believe that this Jesus was that son.
Prov 30:4.)( That is why baptizing in Jesus name was brought in. To be sure, the people understood, the apostles had to pronounce the name of Jesus over them.
However, pronouncing a name is not necessarily baptizing in the name.
But that does not rule out what Jesus taught in
St Matthew 28:19-AV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
SPRINKLING.
John 3:23-AV And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
.
sprinkling is justifiable whenever there not much water. however, if a person understand the principle of water baptism. A spoon full of water could be use to baptize them. The same way how we take “Holy Communion” We today only use a little piece of bread, because we understand the principle, however, during the apostles time, people came to eat, and drink until they were full. The apostles have to tell them that if they are hungry they must eat at home.
SUPPOSE I DIE BEFORE
I AM BAPTIZE?
Did you get the chance to be baptized? Did you cancel a baptism? If you did, you were not ready. The thief on the cross St Luke 23:43. Did not have time to be baptized, and he did not need to be baptize, since Christ did not died as yet. But a believer who is not ready for baptism is neither ready for heaven.
DO I HAVE TO BE
BAPTIZE IN A RIVER?
No, you do not need to be baptize in a river. You do it where there is enough water. River, sea, pond, or lake. Any where there is enough water.
DOES BAPTISM SAVE A SOUL?
1Peter 3:21-AV The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
SPIRIT BAPTISM
PLUS WATER
BAPTISM.
There are many form of baptism that Christians will have to go through. Even though the bible speak of one baptism. There are seven kinds. There is the spirit baptism, water baptism. And baptism by fire, which signified persecutions.
.
Ephes. 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Matthew 3 abaptized] Greek: baptizo), from bapto, to dip (Luke 16:24; Rev. 19:13; John 13:26); to overwhelm with suffering (Matthew 20:22-23; Luke 12:50); to bury into (Romans 6:3-7; Col. 2:12), regardless of the element used. Acts 8:38
Seven Baptisms in Scripture:
1.John's baptism in water (Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3; Luke 7:29-30; John 1:31-33; John 3:23-26; John 10:40; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:16; Acts 19:3)
2.Christ's baptism in water (John 3:22; John 4:1-2)
3.Baptism in suffering (Luke 12:50) 4.Baptismn in the cloud and in the sea (1 Cor. 10:2)
5.Christian baptism in water (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38-41; Acts 8:12-16,36-38; Acts 9:18; Acts 10:47-48; Acts 16:15,33; Acts 18:8; Acts 19:5; Acts
22:16; 1 Cor. 1:13-17; 1 Peter 3:21)
.
6.Baptism into Christ and into His body (Romans 6:3-7; 1 Cor. 12:13; Galatians 3:27; Col. 2:12)
.
7.Baptism in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11,14; Matthew 20:22-23; Mark 1:8; Mark
10:38-39; Luke 3:16; John 1:33; John 7:37-39; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:16; Acts 19:2-3)
Three Baptisms for Believers:
1.Into Christ or into His body at repentance and the new birth (pt. 6, above). Called
"one baptism" (Ephes. 4:5), because it is the only baptism that saves the soul and
brings into the body of Christ.
In the days when the scriptures were written, Father was a name.
Matthew 3:11) 3.Spirit baptism, the endowment of power for service. It can take place before water baptism (Acts 10:44-48) or after it (Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:1-11; Acts 8:12 21; Acts 19:1-
.
7).The Holy Spirit is the agent to baptize into Christ and into His body (1 Cor. 12:13); Christ is the agent to baptize in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11; John 1:3. 33); and the minister is the agent to baptize into water (Matthew 28:19). Some Christians received the spirit baptism before the water baptism. Acts 10:47-AV Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? St Matthew 3:11-AV I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire: Mark 1:4-AV John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Mark 16:14-AV Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
.
Mark 16:15-AV And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:16-AV He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Matthew 3:4-AV And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. Matthew 3:5-AV Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, Matthew 3:6-AV And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
BAPTISM MUST FOLLOW
REPENTANCE.
repentance mean to change one's mind, and not necessarily one's life. Acts 2:38-AV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:41-AV Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.
INFIDELS ARE SOMETIME
BAPTIZED ALONG
WITH THE FAITHFUL.
Acts 8:12-AV But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:13-AV Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:18-AV And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Acts 8:19-AV Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever
I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost..
Acts 8:20-AV But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Acts 8:21-AV Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Acts 8:22-AV Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Acts 8:23-AV For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and [in] the bond of iniquity. Acts 8:24-AV Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
THE EUNUCH WAS
BAPTIZED IN THE
DESERT.
Acts 8:34-AV And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Acts 8:35-AV Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
Acts 8:39-AV And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
THE PLACE A PERSON BAPTIZE
DOES NOT MATTER.
Acts 16:30-AV And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? Acts 16:31-AV And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:32-AV And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. Acts 16:33-AV And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed [their] stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. Acts 16:34-AV And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
A BRIEFS DESCRIPTIONS OF WHY CHRIST HAD TO DIE,
AND WHY WATER BAPTISM IS US TO REPRESENT THAT DEATH.
For centaury, the Jews and gentiles are trying to say they have nothing to do with the death of Jesus, but if you have nothing to do with it, you are in real big trouble. Jesus is the lamb of God that every man must kill for their sins.
LET US GO BACK TO GENESIS AND
EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPEN.
Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV)
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God told Adam not to eat of that tree. However, Adam find away to eat of it and blame it all on God. And I will show you how he did it.
ADAM BLAME GOD.
Genesis 3:11-12 (KJV)
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? [12] And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. .
You have to look at the wording that Adam uses, he was not blaming the woman but God. "The woman whom ( thou ) (YOU) gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat"
In plane English, what Adam was saying. I did not ask you for a woman, I never get the chance to pick. It was your Idea all along"
THE WOMAN BLAME
IT BACK ON GOD.
Genesis 3:13 (KJV)
And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
To know what was going on you have to look at the wording. "The serpent beguiled me and I did eat"
.
What the woman is saying, you God should not have put such a smart serpent in the garden in the first place, one that is able to beguile people. What did you expect? Yes!! But God did told them not to eat of it. They could not deny that. Genesis 3:1 (KJV)
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
SOMEBODY HAS TO DIE.
Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The first promise of a coming redeemer that will have to pay the price for that sin. So we see where God struck a compromise, Christi will have to come and died for that sin. All Adam and his children will have to do is accept responsibility for that death. We see God kill and animal, we see Able kill a lamb, these all speak of Christ That will have to come and die for man sin.
.
1 Cor. 15:21-22 (KJV)
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. [22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Cor. 15:45 (KJV)
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
.
Genesis 22:8 (KJV)
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
YOU MUST KILL YOUR OWN LAMB.
Exodus 12:3 (KJV)
Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
The lamb represent Christ, when they were killing that lamb, they were symbolically killing Jesus.
.
John 1:29 (KJV)
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
.
John 1:36 (KJV)
And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
Who kill Jesus? Every man and woman that ever ask God to forgive your sins. For your sins to be forgiven that lamb, Jesus Christ have to be kill. Who kill Jesus ? I did. I am a part of it, are else my sins are not forgiven. On the day of judgment, God cannot condemn me for any sins, because I kill my lamb.
.
Isaiah 53:10 (KJV)
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. .
Isaiah 53:1-7 (KJV)
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? [2] For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. [3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. .
[4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. [6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. [7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. To show the world that you take part in Jesus death, you have to baptize in water.
IT DOES NOT STOP HERE
It is important to know that baptism is just the beginning, and we must move on from there to a practical Christian living of brotherly love.
CONCLUSION.
Therefore, As we come to the end of this book, it is important to know that we must not stop here but continue on. Water baptism is only the beginning. We have more work to do. Souls are going to hell. Our job is to save some of them. Let us go out into the field, and work. We must remember the word of our lord and “ Lift up your eyes, and look, behold the field are white to the harvest.”
