UNDERSTANDING THE TERMINOLOGY
USE IN THE BIBLE

O ne cannot understand the Bible if they failed to see and understand the Terminology that are use in the Bible. To make people believe we must disarm the things which is causing their doubt, or give them an Explanation for the things that they hang up on.
Example:
1Corinthians 12:28-AV And God hath set some in the church, first Apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 1Corinthians 12:29-AV [Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all workers of miracles? 1Corinthians 12:30-AV Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
I believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues, But I do not believe that every Christians have that gift. Because of this, I ran into trouble with many of my ministers friends. Now for them to make me believe that all Christians speak in tongues, they have to give me an explanation for 1 Cor 12:30. Until they can give me a reasonable explanation for this verse. I will believe them with my mouth, but not with my heart. To understand the Bible, the people must have a sense of the terminologies that are uses in the Bible.
(1) SLEPT WITH HIS FATHERS
1Kings 2:10-AV So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
"Slept with his fathers" Mean, the person died and was buried in the same cemetery like his predecessors. It does not mean that they both had a night sleep together in the same bed.
1Kings 11:21-AV And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
1Kings 11:43-AV And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
1Kings 14:20-AV And the days which Jeroboam reigned [were] two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.
1Kings 14:31-AV And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name [was] Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.
PUT ON CHRIST
Galatians 3:27-AV For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
"Put on Christ" Mean to immediate Christ, to follow in his step, to talk like Christ would have talk, and to treat others as he would have treated them.
Colossians 3:14-AV And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
"Put on love" Mean, to stop act in hate and react in hate. That is where you were before you were, save, now you have seen the light of everlasting life, act differently, or act accordingly to the light.
Colossians 3:12-AV Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
"Put on the new man" This is a complete turn around, from what you were before you were save"
Colossians 3:10-AV And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
THE ARMOR OF GOD
Ephesians 6:11-AV Put on the whole ARMOR of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:12-AV For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Ephesians 6:13-AV Wherefore take unto you the whole ARMOR of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:14-AV Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; Ephesians 6:15-AV And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Ephesians 6:16-AV Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:17-AV And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:18-AV Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
THE ARMOR OF GOD
TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS= RIGHT DOINGS, GOSPEL OF PEACE, FAITH, SALVATION, SWORD OF THE SPIRIT= SCRIPTURES, PRAYER, AND SUPPLICATIONS.
FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT
Ephesians 5:18-AV And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Philippians 1:11-AV Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Only one Holy Spirit there is, how can millions of people be filled with the one spirit? It is a terminology, which mean to control, are come under the influence, to yield to. Same like when a person is filled with wine, if you cut their hands you would not see wine running out of it. However, they are under the influence of wine.
2Chronicles 7:14-AV If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Christians with wicked ways is not in control by the holy spirit, are is not yielding to his bidding.
FILLED WITH YOUR COMPANY
Romans 15:24-AV Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your [company].
This does not mean that the people are going to be inside Paul.
Romans 15:24 (Living Bible) For I am planning to take a trip to Spain, and when I do, I will stop off there in Rome; and after we have had a good time together for a little while, you can send me on my way again.
WALK IN THE SPIRIT
Galatians 5:16-AV [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
John 6:63 (NASB-U) "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
"Walk in the spirit." mean to conduct your life base on the principle taught in the scriptures.
LIVE IN THE SPIRIT
Galatians 5:25-AV If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
LED BY THE SPIRIT
Romans 8:14-AV For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
If the Holy Spirit only another spirit lead person leads, you can really, understand you. While coming from work, I feel to drive another way. This was about ten miles more driving. By taking the other way, I rescue a man.
KEEP YOU FROM FOLLOWING THE LEADING OF THE SPIRIT
2Corinthians 6:14-AV Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOU
John 3:8-AV The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
CANNOT AGREE WITH YOU SINCE HE/SHE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND
Amos 3:3-AV Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Sometime Only Jesus Can Help Us
Acts 4:12 (KJV)Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Romans 5:6 (KJV) For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:7 (KJV) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. Matthew 6:33-AV But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Isaiah 55:6-AV Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Isaiah 55:7-AV Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
