M any pastors are having financial problems, at the same time, the church is loaded down with money. You just have to know where to look for it. After taking my second church, I got it with fifty members. Only about ten members were working, all the others were unemployed. Things were so bad that I was never offered a salary. Only one time in ten months I was given a check.
Being a pastor in the Island involve much more that preaching and teaching. The people came to the pastor for every thing. One day I told my people that if they were hungry they could come to my house. One morning eight members turn up. After going to the Lord for help, it was reveal to me that money was right there in the church. I just have to "take from Peter to help Paul."
For example, a church that has fifty members, sometime thirty are paying rent. The church could acquire building and rent it to certain members, this could bring in extra revenue. Some Church that worship on Saturday, could rent the building to churches that worship on Sunday. Churches that have only one service on Sunday could rent the same building to another church that have service different time the same day. The church building could be rented during the week days for basic school and other activities. Tithes and offering is not the only way to make money from the church.
The only problem, is this. Where greed are predominant, this could quickly went out of control, just like what happen in the temple, where our lord have to went in and beat the people out.
1 Tim. 6:10 (KJV) For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1 Tim. 6:6-8 (KJV) But godliness with contentment is great gain. [7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. [8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
